Anqing Petrochemical coal gasification plant achieves smooth operation for 60 days

In recent days, Anqing Petrochemical has been actively engaged in brainstorming and organizing technical research to address the various challenges that have hindered the smooth operation of the coal gasification plant. Building on the 30-day stability target set by the headquarters in the first half of the year, the company successfully achieved the second half's 60-day goal on October 7, marking a significant milestone in its operational journey. Shell coal gasification technology is known for its wide adaptability to different types of coal, high coal conversion efficiency, and environmentally friendly characteristics. Its practical application has drawn considerable attention from industry stakeholders. As one of the first Chinese companies to trial this large-scale technology in fertilizer production, Anqing Petrochemical has faced some engineering challenges that require gradual improvement. Earlier, the equipment experienced frequent parameter fluctuations and certain components showed signs of wear, which posed obstacles to continuous operation. To tackle these issues, Anqing Petrochemical established a dedicated, fast-response technical team consisting of engineers, technicians, and frontline operators who have been working on-site throughout the day, constantly seeking solutions. The gasification furnace demands an extremely high level of cleanliness. Large coal cinders can easily lead to pipeline blockages, so the company installed two fiber separators at critical points to ensure unobstructed flow. Given the variation in coal batches, impurities such as large cinders and fibers differ in quantity. To address this, the company sent personnel to manually clean the coal in the warehouse and implemented stricter inspections of key equipment. Special protection measures were also put in place for the pumps within the gasification unit, tailored to their actual operating conditions. In response to issues with the gasification burners and ash removal systems, the company initiated technical improvements and assigned responsible personnel to provide round-the-clock support. During abnormal situations, operators quickly switched from automatic to manual control, adjusted the production load based on the device’s condition, and maintained the optimal oxygen-to-coal ratio, ensuring stable and efficient operation of the entire system.
