Chicago Still & Box Alarm fire 2-17-13

Here's a message from Dieterich Herndobler:

Apologies for the late delivery of the photos, but I managed to capture the collapse at the Still & Box building on 9160 S. Green around 0900 hours. I was chasing the fire truck on my way home from my shift. The main fire was in the rear of a large truss-roof structure. I arrived just as the first water was being applied. The best view of the flames came from the west side along Vincennes, but I didn’t have my DSLR with me. There was also a chain-link fence and a significant setback between the street and the building, which made it difficult to get a clear shot. Early arriving units had some trouble getting water on the fire, but once they did, the blaze was quickly knocked down.

It was a pretty intense scene, and even though I couldn’t get the best shots due to the lighting and distance, the images still give a good sense of the scale of the fire. I hope these help provide a clearer picture of what happened that day. Let me know if you need more details or additional photos.
