On a quiet Sunday evening around 9:15 PM, the Northbrook Fire Department received a call about a fire at 1337 Walters Avenue. As units were en route, police confirmed that the fire was already fully involved, prompting the alarm to be upgraded to a Code 4 before the first engine arrived. In addition to Northbrook crews, Glencoe sent an engine, Northfield provided a ladder truck, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Ambulance 52 responded as well.
The fire originated in a second-floor bedroom and quickly spread into the attic before breaking through the roof. A Box Alarm was called to bring in more companies from the three Northbrook stations. Tim Olk and Larry Shapiro were on scene, documenting the incident. The fire was brought under control within 25 minutes, and all residents, who were home at the time, evacuated safely without any injuries.
Larry Shapiro submitted several photos of the responding apparatus, and we're looking forward to seeing more shots from Tim, who arrived shortly after the Northbrook units. The images show the intensity of the fire and the quick response by the crews.
