AEG Power Solutions Receives Supporting Order for BT 4000 Drilling Platform

AEG Power Solutions, a global supplier of power electronic systems and solutions for industrial power supply and renewable energy applications, announced that it has been selected by DJI Heavy Industry Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. to provide customized solutions based on AEG PS Protect 8 industrial UPS. Power supply from its BT 4000 deep sea semi-submersible drilling rig.
It is reported that the BT 4000 drilling rig is one of the new deepwater semi-submersible drilling equipment designed by Bassoe Technology, which specializes in the design and manufacture of advanced floating marine equipment. Its functions include drilling, well repair and completion. This deepwater semi-submersible rig can be used to mine offshore oil in areas such as Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico, western Africa or the temperate waters of Southeast Asia. The depth of the underwater operation is 200 to 2400 meters and the maximum drilling/well repair depth is 8,500 meters.
The project to be installed by AEG Power Solutions is located on a new drilling platform in the Santos Basin, Brazil, from which oil will be extracted from the salt geological formation. Although stored in the deep sea thick salt geological layer, the quality of the salt down oil is very good, and such drilling platforms are needed to achieve mining extraction. Due to operating conditions, power supply is critical and must be highly reliable and resistant to corrosion in the marine environment. “The design of the solution has also played a crucial role in the decision of the ship to work for us on this project,” explains Guo Yong, General Manager of AEG Power Solutions China. “In addition to high reliability and durability of the product. Beyond sex, we have an empirical advantage in designing and manufacturing power supplies for offshore drilling platforms."
Protect 8, which represents the body of this contract, is one of the most reliable UPSs in the industry. The system is designed with an innovative modular structure, enhanced manufacturing processes and a “standard” approach to ensure that every application has the precise need to ensure optimal performance levels and world-class performance.
AEG Power Solutions has worked with Big Ship Marine on two other rigs, the BT-350 and AJ-46. The well maintenance of the new BT4000 semi-submersible rig is more competitive than ever, and the platform is designed with all the equipment necessary to drill down the oil. The development of deep-sea oil and gas is excellent and has great market potential. For AEG Power Solutions, the cooperation with this new project is a major victory. The solution will be delivered in January 2016.
