British "Elisabeth" aircraft carrier construction is coming to an end

[Reported by Naval Technology Network on May 14, 2013] British BAE Company has completed the construction of the Queen Elizabeth Island's rear ship island part of the Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier. At this point, the construction of the "Elisabeth Queen" aircraft carrier is nearing completion.

The island is 52 meters long and 14 meters wide and will be transferred to Scotland in mid-June and will be integrated on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier by the end of next month. The carrier's rear-ship island weighs 753 tons and is 31 meters high, which is equivalent to the airport's command tower, which can effectively command the operation of the aircraft carrier's flight deck.

The carrier’s former ship island and more than 100 other cabins have been integrated in April.

The "Elizabeth Queen" aircraft carrier has a full displacement of 65,000 tons and a range of 10,000 nautical miles. It can carry up to 40 carrier aircraft.

Earlier, the British Defense Secretary Philip Hammond revealed that the next aircraft carrier is expected to begin the sea trial in 2017, and will use the F-35 "Lightning II" joint produced by Lockheed Martin on the aircraft carrier deck in 2018. Attack the fighter to conduct a flight test.

The "Elisabeth" and "Prince of Wales" aircraft carriers are expected to be used by the Royal Navy in 2016 and 2018, respectively, and replace the "invincible" class aircraft carrier.
