Le Weichi introduced that the negotiations between Renault Trucks and Dongfeng have been carried out for five or six years. The Dongfeng Tianlong heavy trucks that will be carrying off Renault's transfer of engine technology will be one of many cooperative projects. This is the first and most important step in the cooperation between the two sides.

Dongfeng Tianlong equipped with DXi 11 11-liter high-power Euro III diesel engine, Renault truck is a very mature engine, is widely used in Renault's Kerax engineering heavy truck, Premium long-distance transport vehicles and other models, its rated power up to 330, 380 and 440 horsepower. It is estimated that Renault trucks will also use this Dongfeng-made engine in the Kerax heavy truck produced in cooperation with Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile.
Le Vichy stated that after the DXi 11 engine project, the final agreement between Renault Trucks and Dongfeng Fang on the joint venture plant will be implemented soon.
In the future equity ratio allocation of joint ventures, the shareholding ratio of the joint venture will be 32% of Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile, 18% of Dongfeng Group, 50% of Renault Trucks, and Renault Trucks will convert some of its shares into shares through technology.
The joint venture products will use the Dongfeng and Renault brands, respectively, retaining two brands. Le Chi Chi believes that the dual-brand strategy will provide more space for the survival and development of the two brands. The two brands have their own characteristics and focus on each other. They will find a balance in parallel.
As the final agreement has not yet been signed, the future sales network has not been determined. Le Weichi said that since Renault Trucks entered the Chinese market later, and the supporting service network was insufficient, they hoped that they could use Dongfeng's powerful domestic resources and leverage Dongfeng's network advantages. Renault Trucks' sales and after-sales service will also be more effective.
In 2006, Renault Trucks hopes to sell 500 cars in China and 13 distributors. It is planned to increase this number to 30 by 2007. In 2010, Renault Trucks expects domestic and imported sales to reach 50,000 units, which will account for 10% of the heavy truck market.
Whether it is the transfer of engines, vehicle exports or local production, Le Vieux said that Renault trucks value long-term development in China. It may seem that today, Renault truck technology is somewhat advanced, but it is believed that with the development of the Chinese market, Renault Trucks will be one of the most suitable trucks for the Chinese market.
