Ricardo Combustion Engine Assembly launches new engine

Ricardo highlight of the 2013 International Conference of the internal combustion engine (CIMAC) on the Atlas-II is a new generation of display model, the product is the latest high-speed version of Ricardo success of large single-cylinder research engine. The Atlas-II can test engines with a cylinder diameter of 150 to 200 mm and a stroke of up to 280 mm, helping customers use single cylinders to evaluate large multi-cylinder engine designs. This new product is particularly focused on meeting the needs of large natural gas engine manufacturers, providing highly flexible multi-fuel development tools to help customers bring products to market faster and at lower cost. Ricardo is planning a larger Atlas-II version of the 300 to 400 mm bore.

In addition to the market-launched new Atlas-II engine (according to customer options, delivery time is four to six months), Ricardo also installed an Atlas-II at its large UK engine R&D base, starting in August. Serve customer projects.

Simon Brewster, head of Ricardo’s large-scale engine, said: “We are very excited to introduce this exciting new product at the CIMAC World Congress. In the process of designing the new generation of Atlas-II, we try our best to meet the requirements of our customers. Significantly increase speed, reduce costs, and achieve an efficient R&D process for medium- and high-speed engines that will help customers with their engine applications—from static power to railway locomotives to marine propulsion systems. Natural gas interests are increasing day by day, so we have designed Atlas-II specifically to make it possible to provide a research and development environment that meets the needs of natural gas in addition to diesel, heavy fuel oil, and marine diesel. Therefore, whatever fuel or application customers use, Atlas-II can provide corresponding R&D tools to help customers save time and money - to create better large engines.
