In a recent update, it was learned that Tianjin Petrochemical Company successfully completed the development of an adjustable dry steam (gas) flow standard in collaboration with Tianjin Petrochemical Corporation and the China Institute of Metrology. This project marks a significant milestone in the field of steam measurement in China.
Recently, the research projects on flow standards and devices were reviewed and recognized by experts organized by Sinopec Group Corporation. This achievement represents the first time China has developed an adjustable dryness steam flow standard, setting a new benchmark for accuracy and reliability in steam measurement.
The newly developed steam flow standard devices are expected to be widely adopted in various industrial sectors. As steam is a crucial secondary energy source used extensively in both industrial production and daily life, accurate measurement plays a vital role in improving energy management and efficiency.
It has been reported that the current unit of mass flow measurement for steam in China is not entirely suitable for modern applications. To address this issue, Tianjin Petrochemical Corporation initiated a research project in August 2003, signing a commissioned development contract with China Petrochemical Corporation to develop a more accurate and practical solution.
According to reports, the technical specifications of the project have reached leading domestic levels. For the first time in China, a standardized device for measuring dry steam flow has been established, providing a solid foundation for enhancing the accuracy of steam (and air) flow measurements across the country.
This breakthrough not only improves the quality of steam measurement but also supports the broader goals of energy conservation and sustainable development. The successful implementation of this technology is expected to bring significant benefits to industries reliant on steam, ensuring better control, efficiency, and compliance with national energy standards.
