According to statistics from the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, the total amount of foreign trade orders in Taiwan from January to August 2011 reached US$289.006 billion, an increase of 10% over the same period of last year. In January-August, the export value of basic metal products was 20.717 billion U.S. dollars, up 20.1% year-on-year; the export value of mechanical products was 14.072 billion U.S. dollars, up 42.3% year-on-year; the export value of electrical products was 12.027 billion U.S. dollars, down 15.9% year-on-year.
