The Orland Fire Protection District, serving the communities of Orland Park and Orland Hills, has recently been added to the site thanks to Karl Klotz. This comprehensive update includes all six fire stations, along with details on the in-service and reserve apparatus. Karl is currently working on capturing images of the remaining ambulance (#1), which will complete the listings. The department operates Pierce aerial ladders, while their engines are either Pierce or Darley models. All ambulances are custom-built by Road Rescue and are Type III units mounted on Ford E450 chassis. The most recent engines and ambulances were delivered in 2008, marking a significant upgrade to their fleet.
In addition to their standard response units, Orland Fire Protection District maintains several specialty units. These include a hazardous materials response team, a small squad unit, a technical rescue team, a dive team, a communications unit, and a fire investigation unit. One of the most iconic pieces of equipment is the 55-foot Snorkel, which was once a staple of the department. Although no longer in active service, it’s still used for public relations and is stationed at Station 6.
Karl Klotz has done an excellent job documenting the Orland Fire Protection District, offering a detailed look into their operations and equipment. Whether you're a local resident, a firefighter, or just a vehicle enthusiast, this addition provides valuable insight into a well-equipped and community-focused fire department.
Orland runs three of these units.
