The magical "mechanical CNC lock" unlocks the door without the key

In 2001, the State Intellectual Property Office awarded Mr. Quan from Shunde Dalian with a utility model patent certificate for his "mechanical CNC lock." This innovative locking system operates entirely mechanically, without the need for batteries or electrical power. It allows users to open the door without a key, even during power outages. The password can be up to 40 digits long, offering an extremely high level of security. Mr. Quan shared his experience with reporters, explaining that he once worked as a decorator and struggled with managing multiple keys for different clients. He often mixed them up and wanted a more efficient solution. That’s when he came up with the idea of a keyless lock. During the interview, Mr. Quan demonstrated the mechanical CNC lock. It features a circular number keypad with buttons labeled 0 through 9, located between the handle and the keyhole. After entering the correct code, turning the knob clockwise unlocked the door. He then showed how the password could be set using a thin rod on the internal wheel, allowing each digit to be selected up to four times. With a 40-digit password, it's highly unlikely to be cracked by unauthorized individuals. The lock is fully mechanical, eliminating the need for electricity. It also supports both key and password entry. If someone forgets their key, they can still unlock the door using the password. Additionally, a small device can be added to disable the key function, ensuring only those who know the password can access the door. This makes it much safer than traditional locks, as thieves who steal the key would still be locked out. Since starting his research in 1995, Mr. Quan has continuously improved the design, focusing on aesthetics and performance. He is currently working on new features, such as a device that disables key and password compatibility, an alarm that triggers after four incorrect attempts, and luminous powder on the keypad for better visibility at night. Mr. Quan hopes to partner with manufacturers to bring the product to market soon. He claims the cost is only 10% of electronic locks available today, making it a cost-effective and secure alternative. He is also developing a version for motorcycles, which he believes could significantly reduce theft. His goal is to make the mechanical CNC lock a practical and reliable security solution for everyday use.
