Recently, the Chongqing Municipal Quality Supervision Bureau announced 67 local standards. Among them, "Unified coding and identification of auto parts" is on the list.

The reporter learned that this set of standards refers to the code specification of the International Article Numbering Organization. Chongqing citizens can use this standard to interpret the information of key parts of automobiles and trace the production of their cars.

Coding rules refer to international norms

In life, many products are marked with a variety of codes, which are used to indicate the manufacturer's and product-related information.

In the "Uniform Coding and Labeling of Auto Parts" promulgated by the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Quality Supervision, the coding rules refer to international norms, and the manufacturer identification codes are also in line with international standards. The manufacturer's identification code consists of 8 digits, which uniquely identifies the component manufacturers on a global scale, thus helping to solve the problem of traceability of automotive parts and products.

Through this coding rule, the manufacturer, production batch, component serial number, customer code, etc. of a certain automobile component are marked, and a two-dimensional code is generated and engraved on the component, and the owner can know by sweeping it. Accurately trace the product component information.

Director Chen Zhenyu of Chongqing Quality and Standardization Research Institute introduced that the “Uniform Code and Logo for Auto Parts” is a recommended local standard and can be used by enterprises.

Laser etching, lifetime carrying

Unlike paper labels, the Standard requires laser-etched two-dimensional codes on key and important parts of automobiles, that is, the manufacturing technology that directly marks the surface of components, that is, the “body identification”.

For example, key components such as cylinders, cylinder heads, and crankshafts on the engine are laser-etched with two-dimensional codes, leaving traceable information for life-long carrying. The public can use the mobile phone to scan the QR code on the parts to get a series of data.

By logging into the China Commodity Information Service Platform and using the scanned data, Chongqing citizens can trace back to the production information of parts and components, and even the specific production batches and serial numbers.

Companies can increase efficiency and reduce costs

"If the parts use the coding rules specified in this standard, if problems are found, accurate recalls can be achieved." Chen Zhenyu said that citizens can also scan the QR code to check the parts information to determine whether the production batch of their vehicles belongs to the recall.

In addition, Chen Zhenyu said, “When auto parts are put into and out of the warehouse, the scanning and two-dimensional code can be used to perform the inbound and outbound operations, which avoids the high error rate of manual counting, which can improve efficiency and reduce enterprise cost”.

At present, the standard has been piloted in some auto parts enterprises in Chongqing, and will be gradually promoted according to the pilot situation, and has successfully established national standards.
