Hey everyone,
I just got back from covering a pretty intense fire over on the far west side of Joliet. It happened at 6901 Grantham Drive, and by the time I arrived, the detached garage was already fully engulfed. The flames had spread to the house next door, causing significant damage there as well. It was one of those situations where you could feel the heat from blocks away.
The first unit on the scene was Joliet Engine 10, which arrived quickly and started working on containing the fire. They were joined shortly after by several other units, including Engine 9, Engine 8, Tower 9, Ambulance 9, Ambulance 10, and Battalion Chief 2. The firefighters did an incredible job knocking down the blaze using three handlines. It was impressive to see how they coordinated and worked together under pressure.
I managed to snap some photos while the crews were still on scene. These images really capture the intensity of the situation. You can tell just how challenging it must have been for them to battle such a well-involved structure fire in the middle of the summer heat. Props to the Joliet Fire Department for their quick response and effective handling of the situation.
