Introducing the Form 4BL, the fastest large-format dental SLA printer designed specifically for producing dental models and biocompatible parts. Whether you're aiming for high-throughput model production or rapid manufacturing of biocompatible appliances, the Form 4BL delivers the same blazing speed, accuracy, reliability, and ease of use as the Form 4B but with a massive 4.6x larger build volume.
With significant technological updates, Form 4BL prints 2-4x faster than Form 3BL, enabling the production of more than 120 orthodontic models per hour. Additionally, the build surface is 2.7x larger than Form 4B, allowing you to print multiple batches per day with fewer user interactions, maximizing efficiency.
For dental and orthodontic labs with high-throughput needs, Form 4BL provides the speed, accuracy, precision, and reliability required to produce quality appliances efficiently and cost-effectively.
“With the Form 4BL’s larger build platform, we can now produce three times more models with a single user intervention,†said Stephan Kreimer, MDT, Kreimer Dentallabor.
Form 4BL is built on the same technology as Form 4B, ensuring blazing speed without compromising on accuracy. Faster heating and 5-10x faster resin dispensing mean prints start sooner. Once printing begins, you can achieve print speeds ranging from 10-80 mm/h, depending on the material used.
On Form 4BL, you can print 32+ models in Fast Model Resin at 160 μm in just 15 minutes, resulting in a throughput of over 100 models per hour. Print times may vary based on model height and settings, but regardless of the number of parts being printed, the print time remains similar. This means case volume won't affect your printing schedule.
“The Form 4BL allows us to batch prints, so we can print the same number of models in fewer builds. Fewer print runs mean fewer interruptions in other tasks, giving us more time for higher-value activities,†explained Rich Heilweil, Rapid Prototyping Team Lead at Aurora DTC.
Form 4BL also features six intelligent control systems that precisely measure and maintain the temperature, resin level, print forces, and print status. Remote monitoring lets you keep an eye on your prints from anywhere using an integrated camera, preventative maintenance reminders, and our free Dashboard software.
Form 4BL is designed for reliable production with a 60-point calibration and quality control inspection at the factory, ensuring it arrives ready to print. Downtime can be costly for businesses, so Form 4BL has been re-engineered with consumables that are estimated to last for years. Resin Tanks for Form 4BL are expected to last over 75,000 layers, and the Light Processing Unit 4L (LPU 4L) for 600k - 1.9M layers. When needed, the LPU 4L is easy to replace, ensuring minimal downtime.
“Everyone can learn to print on Form 4BL in just 15 minutes,†said Stephan Kreimer, MDT, Kreimer Dentallabor. “The entire ecosystem is crucial if you want to scale your business. Formlabs is much more user-friendly and easier to delegate tasks to the team.â€
Kreimer Dentallabor has found that adding a Form 4BL to their printer fleet has significantly increased productivity and efficiency. Over 80% of their customers are digital, meaning the lab produces high quantities of dental models, around 30-50 a day. Managing this volume of models and manufacturing appliances with a team of 12 would be impossible without reliable, high-throughput 3D printing.
All Formlabs resins are validated on the printer, with optimization engineers testing hundreds of printed parts to dial in validated print settings. This ensures reliable printing right out of the box. Print highly precise and accurate restorative models with Precision Model Resin or leverage the speed of Fast Model Resin to produce 120 orthodontic models per hour.
Form 4BL also supports Formlabs' open ecosystem, which includes the Print Settings Editor for fine-tuning print parameters and the Open Material Mode (OMM) for broader material compatibility. OMM allows expert users to print with any third-party 405 nm photopolymer resin.
Formlabs’ dental material library includes 15+ materials, with seven biocompatible resins. These biocompatible resins can be printed on Formlabs biocompatible printers, including Form 4BL. All Formlabs resins are developed and manufactured within a robust Quality Management System that is ISO 13485 and EU MDR certified.
Cost efficiency is top of mind at dental and orthodontic labs. Form 4BL reduces touchpoints, providing the speed and quality you’ve come to love with Form 4B, while saving technician time. Increase your throughput while providing appliances that fit every time with Form 4BL.
