Building on last week's post, here are some extremely rare images from the infamous 1972 plane crash near Midway Airport. I don't think we need to go into too much detail about this incident. The Chicago Fire Department records indicate the exact time was 2:29 PM on December 8, 1972, with the address being 3715-23 W. 70th Place. The emergency response was rated at a 3-11 alarm level. These pictures capture the recovery phase and were taken from a vantage point that clearly wasn't accessible to the media. Two people lost their lives on the ground, along with 43 passengers aboard the aircraft. Surprisingly, 18 people survived the crash. There is also video footage of this incident available on YouTube, but the quality isn't great.
