Parking tension area adjusted by price

Regarding whether Beijing will continue to raise the parking management fees to curb blockages, Li Shixiang, deputy mayor of the National People's Congress and executive deputy mayor of Beijing, said yesterday: “Some of these areas do have shortages of parking spaces and they must be managed through price adjustments.”

New energy vehicle reduction free is still under discussion

According to the 2013-2017 Clean Air Action Plan recently launched in Beijing, Beijing will launch a series of incentives for new energy vehicles in the future. Before the end of March this year, the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission and the Municipal Communications Commission will take the lead in proposing policies and programs for free parking of new energy vehicles; the Municipal Communications Commission, the Municipal Commission for Science and Technology, and the Municipal Development and Reform Commission will take the lead in proposing policy options such as toll reduction for new energy vehicles. Li Shixiang said: "Whether or not to reduce free energy for new energy vehicles will be announced after strict compliance with relevant laws and regulations. At present, this matter is still being demonstrated."

Parking shortage areas adjusted by price

According to the Clean Air Action Plan, by the end of March, Beijing will strive to develop a differential parking fee adjustment optimization plan to guide the reduction of the intensity of vehicle use in the central city.

Li Shixiang said that Beijing does have the problems of illegal parking, lack of parking resources, and unreasonable parking prices. "We must maintain differentiation in the parking management in Beijing and increase supply. On the one hand, we must strengthen management, and on the other hand, we must recognize parking spaces. It is indeed lacking, and from this year onwards, we must continue to increase investment in this area.Some of the areas that do have shortages of parking spaces actually need to be adjusted by price.Some areas have underground parking garages, but cars do not go. There are also price issues and management issues."

In addition, Li Shixiang also stated that Beijing’s tail number restriction measures have now been basically accepted by the society, and this measure must be adhered to.
