British company has invented a new method for extracting precious metals "lower oxygen blowing Law" from the lead. With this method, energy consumption costs can be saved by more than 60%, and the speed of the process can be increased.
The conventional extraction method "blowing method" is to blow an air stream to the surface of a molten metal to oxidize lead. Since silver is not oxidized, the lead slag layer can be removed to obtain silver having a purity of 99% or more. This method consumes a lot of energy and takes a long time.
The new method invented by the British company is not to blow air to the metal surface, but to use a special inclined furnace to blow pure oxygen from the lower part of the soot container to the liquid metal. With this method, the purity of silver is not lowered, but the oxidation treatment time is greatly shortened compared with the conventional method, and the energy consumption cost is greatly reduced. According to reports, although this method was studied for the purpose of extracting silver from lead, it is also suitable for extracting other precious metals.
