The Chicago PD just pulled back the curtain on their newly redesigned patrol cars, marking a fresh look for the force after decades without an update. This new design is a collaborative effort—officer Jennifer Jacobucci came up with the concept, which was then fine-tuned by a team of officers and community members. The classic blue and white color palette remains, along with the department's long-standing motto, "We Serve & Protect."
But it's not just about aesthetics. These next-gen patrol cars come packed with some serious tech upgrades. They'll be equipped with mobile computers that allow officers to pull up real-time data while on the road. There's also been a tweak to the lighting systems to boost visibility and presence during patrols. And if you're curious, some of these vehicles will even sport license plate recognition tech, giving officers the ability to track down stolen cars faster than ever.
These vehicles are scheduled to hit the streets later this year, but they’re already making appearances at the Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place, running from February 9th through the 18th.
