I just got this update from Josh Boyajian:
---
January 21, 2014 – Firefighters were sent out to a blaze on the south side of Green Street near the 6500 block. I was sitting at the intersection of 47th and Halsted when this alert came through. The moment the dispatch called out the units, we could already see the plume of smoke rising in the distance. Engine 47 was first on the scene and quickly deployed a hose line to the second floor. Meanwhile, Truck Company 18 climbed up to the roof to open up a few ventilation holes, which helped control the fire rapidly. It didn’t take long for them to get things under control. Here are some photos I snapped.

*This is a shot of the Pierce ladder truck arriving at the scene. You can see the firefighters getting organized and ready to tackle the flames.*

*The fire was intense, and you can clearly see how the flames were shooting out of the upper-floor windows. It was clear this was going to be a tough one to contain.*

*Firefighters bravely entered the building, carrying their equipment and preparing to face the inferno head-on. Their determination was evident as they moved forward despite the danger.*

*Another angle showing the intensity of the fire. The heat was palpable even from a distance, and you could hear the crackling of the flames echoing through the neighborhood.*

*A closer look at the firefighters making their way into the building. They worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire before it spread further, risking everything to protect lives and property.*

*In the background, you can see the battalion chief taking charge of the operation. His calm demeanor provided reassurance to everyone involved that the situation was under control.*

It’s always incredible to witness the bravery and professionalism of our firefighters. They truly put themselves in harm's way every single day to keep us safe.
