IVECO vehicles are equipped with a vacuum booster, which makes the brake pedal feel lighter, even at low speeds. This feature enhances braking efficiency, but it can also make the front brake system overly sensitive, increasing the risk of wheel lock-up and reducing driving stability.
To address these issues, a hysteresis valve was introduced into the front brake circuit. This valve is designed to allow brake fluid to flow only when the pressure reaches 0.14MPa—just enough to begin moving the brake shoes. This prevents premature engagement and improves overall control.
The master cylinder pressure builds up until it reaches 1.26MPa, after which the pressure remains stable. Once this threshold is exceeded, the hysteresis valve opens, allowing brake fluid to flow normally to the front brakes. If the driver presses the brake pedal at this point, the system can reach its maximum allowable pressure, ensuring effective and safe braking performance.
By incorporating this valve, the braking system achieves a better balance between responsiveness and control, enhancing both safety and driver confidence, especially during critical stopping situations. It also helps prevent unnecessary wear on the braking components and improves the overall driving experience.
