Hey everyone, here’s some updates and photos from a still and box alarm fire we had in Chicago last Sunday evening (08/12). It happened around 7 PM at a location on 117th Street and Michigan Avenue. The fire initially broke out in the basement of an abandoned apartment building that was above a commercial structure. As things progressed, the incident commanders decided to transition to a defensive strategy. By the time I got there, most of the active fire had already been knocked down.

First up, you can see Chicago Fire Department Engine 75 and Squad 5A. These units were part of the initial response and played a crucial role in managing the situation. The angle of this shot really captures how intense the scene was, with firefighters working hard under challenging conditions.
Next is a wider view of the firefighters at work during the incident. You’ll notice the focus and determination on their faces as they tackle the blaze. This image highlights the teamwork and coordination required to handle a fire of this scale.

I arrived quite late into the operation, so my contribution was minimal compared to those who were there from the beginning. Nonetheless, it’s always humbling to witness such dedication and professionalism firsthand.
