This message comes from Eric Haak, who shared some photos from a recent fire incident in Chicago. It happened on Sunday evening (08/12), at around 7:00 PM, near 117th and Michigan Avenue. The fire broke out in the basement of an abandoned apartment building above a commercial structure. Firefighters initially tried to tackle it internally but eventually had to switch to a defensive strategy. By the time Eric arrived, most of the fire had been extinguished.
Here's what he had to say about the situation:
"The fire at this location was quite intense when it first started. It was in the basement of a vacant building, so there were a lot of challenges for the firefighters right from the beginning. They did their best to contain it, but given the circumstances, they had to take a more cautious approach as the situation evolved."
