China will add nearly 100 million tons of crude oil processing capacity

In 2010, the refining industry added more than 90 million tons of crude oil processing capacity, while eliminating inefficient refining capacity of about 20 million tons. This is the content of the “Special Plan for the Medium and Long-term Development of the Refining Industry” announced by the National Development and Reform Commission on its website on March 16th. The plan was approved by the State Council executive meeting in January.

"Planning" said that by then, China will form more than 20 million tons of crude oil processing bases with strong market competitiveness, and the processing capacity will account for 65% of the country's total capacity; the average size of the enterprises will reach 5.7 million tons, and the overall level will be relatively high. Great promotion.

The oil refining industry basically meets the demand of the domestic refined oil market, but it needs to import some chemical light oils to meet the needs of the downstream petrochemical industry, and diversify oil imports. At the same time, promoting the use of natural gas as a substitute for diesel as the energy source for peaking power plants, as well as gas vehicles and alcohol fuels, will gradually diversify China's energy consumption structure.
