Wet drum magnetic separators are ideal for processing strongly magnetic minerals. Depending on the tank structure, they can be categorized into three types: co-current, half-countercurrent, and countercurrent.

Co-current type magnetic separator (CTS) features a large capacity, making it suitable for processing coarse particles (0–6mm) of strongly magnetic materials. It can also operate in multiple stages. However, when feeding high volumes of iron ore, magnetic particles may be lost in the tailings, so careful operational control and maintaining a low pulp level is essential.

Countercurrent type magnetic separator (CTN) has a higher recovery rate and is best suited for fine-grained (0–1.5mm) strongly magnetic minerals during roughing and scavenging operations. However, it tends to produce lower concentrate grades due to the risk of blockage from coarse materials. Therefore, it is not recommended for coarse particle processing.

Half-countercurrent type magnetic separator (CTB) offers high-quality iron ore concentrate with better recovery rates, making it suitable for processing particles ranging from 0.5–0mm. Due to its efficiency, it is widely used across various industries.

Wet Drum Magnetic Separator – Magnetic Components
The wet drum magnetic separator uses a permanent magnet system composed of high-quality ferrite and rare-earth magnets, with an average surface magnetic flux density of 100–600mT (1000–6000Gauss). The main components include the permanent magnet cylinder, roller, magnetic system, tank, and transmission parts.

Working Principle:
When the ore pulp enters the magnetic field, strongly magnetic minerals are attracted to the drum surface. Weakly magnetic or non-magnetic minerals are washed away and discharged, while the magnetic minerals on the drum rotate and exit the magnetic field, completing the separation process.
