Introduction of Magnetic Separator

Magnetic separation is a continuous process that separates magnetic materials from non-magnetic ones. The mixture passes through a strong magnetic field, where the magnetic material becomes magnetized and is attracted to the surface of the separator, then discharged in a chute.

The efficiency of the separator depends on the magnet's strength and the conveyor speed. The magnet length is designed so that the magnetic material stays in the field for 0.4 to 0.5 seconds. Strontium Ferrite permanent blocks are used to achieve a surface gauss of 2500.

The gap between the magnet and the conveyor is adjustable; a smaller gap improves separation efficiency. A separate drive system is used for the separator and conveyor. Adjustable stainless steel splitters are provided between chutes. A vibrating feeder with two unbalance motors ensures even distribution of material across the belt for better separation. We can supply belt-type separators for widths ranging from 650 mm to 2000 mm.

Classification of Magnetic Separator

Electromagnetic Type (with control panel): uses rare earth and ferrite magnets to form its magnetic system.

Permanent Type (without control panel): uses excitation coils to create an electromagnetic system. It is typically used in continuous operations with large amounts of iron material.

Operating Principle

The magnetic and non-magnetic materials pass under the magnetic separator via a conveyor. A feeder evenly feeds the mixture onto the conveyor. Under the influence of the magnetic field, the magnetic material is attracted upwards toward the magnet face. This material is carried along the cleated belt of the separator and continuously discharged into the magnet chute. The non-magnetic material is carried by the bottom conveyor and discharged into the non-magnet chute.

Model Selection

1. Before choosing, consider whether to convey the tape, belt width, inclination, material properties, humidity, thickness, amount of iron, nature of ferromagnetic material, iron removal requirements, and environment.
2. When there is more iron, choose RCDC, RCDD, RCDF series.
3. When the iron content is low, choose RCDA, RCDB, RCDE series.
4. When using suspended electric or permanent magnet iron removers, if the material is thick, use WCTG series five parallel rollers to improve iron removal efficiency.
5. If the material cannot be adsorbed, use a metal detector and perform automatic iron removal after shutdown.
