On December 2nd, during the "2nd Annual Meeting of China's Auto Parts and Entrepreneurs" held in Tianjin, the list of "Top 100 Chinese Auto Parts Enterprises by Comprehensive Competitiveness in 2005" was officially announced. The list included well-known companies such as Fuao Auto Parts Co., Ltd., Wanxiang Group, Weichai Power Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Honda Engine Co., Ltd., Hunan Torch Group, Shanghai Automotive Co., Ltd., Eaton Truck Parts (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd., Beijing Hyundai Mobis Automotive Parts Co., Ltd., and Shaanxi Fast Gear Co., Ltd., among others.
Chen Dajun, deputy secretary-general of the China Machinery Industry Enterprise Management Association and vice president of the Mechanical Industry Economic Management Research Institute, represented the organizers—China Automobile Engineering Society and China Machinery Industry Enterprise Management Association—and explained the evaluation system behind the comprehensive competitiveness of auto parts enterprises. According to Chen, the concept of comprehensive competitiveness refers to a set of long-term competitive advantages that a company has developed, combining inherent strengths and synergies that enable it to survive and thrive in the market. He emphasized that understanding these competitive factors from a holistic and forward-looking perspective helps companies take control of future competition and improve their management practices.
The top 100 companies were selected based on annual sales exceeding RMB 100 million, with all companies registered in China, regardless of ownership structure. The evaluation covered the past two years, focusing on continuous performance and development trends.
As a neutral third-party assessment, the system incorporated insights from global competitiveness models, including those of the World Economic Forum, Standard & Poor’s, the Ministry of Finance, and Renmin University’s Statistical Institute. It focused on four key areas: company size, business performance, financial health, and growth potential, while also integrating expert opinions for more accurate results.
This year, the evaluation added new categories to reflect companies' abilities in capital operations, patents, and independent innovation. In addition to existing awards, special recognition was given to the Top 10 Patent-Advancing Companies and the Top 10 Listed Companies in the auto parts industry.
